The Wise Forensics engagement process
1. Receive the brief
What is being investigated or required to be recovered is dependent on each case and having a clear understanding of the brief is critical to ensure that resources can be allocated efficiently and a clear understanding of the scope is developed. This is the stage where Wise Forensics will analyse the requirements exactly, and determine if our skillset is a fit for the entire process or if additional parties are required, before, during or subsequent to our involvement. It is important to also understand the time lines, the desired output and for whom the output is required.
2. Develop & document the engagement process
Once it has been ascertained what will be undertaken, it is critical that a clear and deliberate approach be followed to ensure that deadlines can be met, budgets adhered to, and most importantly the investigation stays within scope. This is all formalised to the client before the investigation commences to ensure alignment of our processes to the brief.
3. Evidence collection
Every investigation requires analysis of evidence and this must be collected in a very deliberate and secure manner to ensure that the validity of th evidence or the collection process is not called into question. Whether it be physical evidence or digital evidence, Wise Forensics have the expertise and tools to collect all evidential artefacts in a manner compliant with legal and industry standards.
4. Analysis & documentation
During this phase of the investigation we are using our expertise and resources to analyse the evidential data. The Wise Forensics approach follows a highly technical and methodical series of tasks to enusre that all elements of the data are analysed, with documented steps for reproduction, verification and validation undertaken throughout. Every element of this phase stays on point to the provided brief, and should additional elements of ‘interest’ be identified these are communicated to the client prior to any further investigation.
5. Reporting & presentation
Whilst the investigations follows a technical approach, it is imperative that our reporting process be able to be understood by those who will rely upon it for decision making. It is this element of the engagement that separates Wise Forensics from our peers, as we take pride in delivering our reports in manner that can be understood by all in a clear and concise manner; whilst still being founded on verifiable and validated findings.
